Compression spring
A compression spring used as a dynamic actuator on a heavy-duty press or other machinery at a steel mill requires a long stroke, highly precise spring property and sound durability.
However, a long stroke requires a high slenderness ratio, which can readily cause a coil spring to buckle and resultantly cause contact between the guide shaft and spring case that makes it difficult to obtain a highly precise spring property.
Bearing that in mind, Tokaibane can design spring configurations to resist buckling and additionally control buckling and decarburization in the manufacturing process and provide shot peening, in order to deliver high quality compression springs as required for dynamic actuators. And, we can add special processing that minimizes settling even in extended use.
Combination springs
If a single compression spring does not provide sufficient load or stroke as a dynamic actuator, we can propose combinations of multiple compression springs. In such case, the winding directions of the springs and clearance between them are carefully designed to prevent contact and entanglement between springs.
Tension spring with fittings
When a tension spring with hooks is repeatedly subjected to high loads, the most torsional and bending stress generally acts on the hooks, which can lead to fatigue failure. In cases like that, we like to propose tension springs mounted with plate, screw-in or other fittings that suit the application and conditions of use.

Volute spring
Owing to their intrinsic double-action nature, volute springs can absorb a large amount of energy in a limited amount of space. For this reason, they are mounted on large class cranes operating at steel mills and other heavy-duty equipment, to absorb shocks. Tokaibane has a full system in place for supplying volute springs in sizes that other manufacturers cannot provide, therefore feel free to contact us.

Push-pull springs for tuned mass damper
Our heavy-duty springs for tuned mass damper consist of a single spring that can alternately compress and tension under load, all the while maintaining the same spring constant in both directions. Moreover, the frictional resistance when loading changes from compression to tensioning is close to zero.
We can design these springs to order, e.g., for both compression and tension loading, just compression loading or just tension loading.
