Thermal refining for stainless steel

Question ばねの初心者

This is my first time posting here.
I am designing a thin plate spring, but I am a beginner and I do not know the difference in steel type well. I would like to ask the following questions.
What does thermal refining mean?
What do the symbols 1/2H, 3/4H, H, EH mean?
What is V-bending and what does it mean when saying the bending radius is 2 times the thickness of the plate?
What is the difference between SUS301 and SUS301-CSP?
What is the difference between SUS301-CSP and SUS301-CSP H?
There are various types such as SUS301-CSP and SUS304-CSP, but what kind of things should be taken into consideration when selecting the steel type?
I am very sorry for asking many basic questions, I would appreciate your cooperation.

Answer Tokai Spring

Thank you for your inquiry, Spring Newbie!

We will answer your inquiries as follows.

・What does thermal refining mean? What do the symbols 1/2H, 3/4H, H, EH mean?
Answer: Thermal refining means adjusting the strength of the material by heat treatment or processing. The symbols 1/2H, 3/4H, H, and EH are symbols that indicate the strength standard due to the tempering process.

・What is V-bending and what does it mean when saying the bending radius is 2 times the thickness of the plate?
Answer: It is a standard with the bending radius (R) 2 times the thickness of the plate to make sure that there is no abnormality in the bent part even if V-bending is tested with a bendability test (JIS Z2248)

・What is the difference between SUS301 and SUS301-CSP?
Answer: In contrast to SUS301, SUS301-CSP is a material that has been strengthened by cold rolling for springs.

・What is the difference between SUS301-CSP and SUS301-CSP H?
Answer: SUS301-CSP is described with the tempering symbol omitted. SUS301-CSP H is a notation that specifies the temper.

・There are various types such as SUS301-CSP and SUS304-CSP, but what kind of things should be taken into consideration when selecting the steel type?
Answer: The steel type is selected by taking into consideration the operating environment (temperature conditions, corrosive environment, etc.) and the strength required for the materials used.

Thanks again for your inquiry!
