stainless steel compression spring

Question Name John coleman

If I have a 30mm long 21mm I’d. stainless steel compression spring made of wire 2.4 mm dia. 6 coils, being loaded with 10kg causing about 5mm compression. How many cycles would it last for before it started to loose effectiveness? I assume you need a figure for how much is lost? So say 10%.
Thanks
John

Answer Tokai Spring

Dear John

I am sorry, but it is impossible to predict how springs will set with use,
Therefore, it is necessary to confirm this through prior testing.

Also, in the case of stainless steel, the estimated durability of the material cannot be predicted,
Therefore, the timing of breakage cannot be predicted.

I am afraid my answer may not meet your expectations, but thank you in advance.
