Question Morimoto

I always think that the springs made of the round wires are annealed at low temperature to remove the residual stress after coiling. How about flat springs? Is it unnecessary to use bainite steel plates or stainless steel plates for springs (SUS304CSP-H, etc.) and perform low-temperature annealing like when coiling springs made of round wires? I did some research on the Internet, but I couldn’t find a clear answer to “low-temperature annealing is not required” or “low-temperature annealing is required”.

Answer Tokai Spring

Mr. Morimoto, thank you for writing to us!
Even for flat springs, low-temperature annealing is required as with springs made of round wires to remove residual stress after forming!
