Question 大谷

I would like to know the material properties (elastic modulus, Poisson’s ratio, rigidity modulus, density, tensile strength, etc.) of piano wires (SWPA, SWPB). Thank you.

Answer Tokai Spring

Thank you for your inquiry, Otani!

The material properties of SWP-A and SWP-B are as follows.
Elastic modulus (longitudinal elastic modulus): 206000 N/mm2
Poisson’s ratio: 0.3
Rigidity modulus (lateral elastic modulus): 78500 N/mm2
Density: 7.85 g/cm3
Tensile strength: The value changes depending on the wire diameter (See JIS G 3522)
