Question Michael

I have a fiberglass, single stall garage door, with extension springs. When I put the door down, it wants to come up. When the door is all the way up, the cables and rollers hang way down. Is there a happy medium? The door is so light, it weighs 37 lbs. I purchased a pair of 50# extension springs. I couldn’t find anything lighter.

PS. I have adjusted/installed many, many doors. I have only ever had issues with fiberglass garage doors, since they are so light.

Sincerely, Frustrated.
Michael

Answer Tokai Spring

Dear Michael,

Thank you very much for contacting us! We are very sorry to hear that this troubles you a lot.

It seems that you have been using ready-made springs to install to the doors, is that correct?
Since we are specialized in producing custom-made springs, it is quite difficult for us to gauge the size of the springs as well as how they are installed into doors to give you any advice at the moment.

If it is okay for you, it would be much appreciated if you could give us more information regarding the springs’ dimensions, photos/drawings of the doors and springs so that we can perhaps think of a solution.

We also think that it might be faster and more efficient to send this inquiry to the spring manufacturer that you bought the springs from.

Please tell us your opinions on this. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards,
Tokai Spring’s Support Team
