Examples of Tokai Spring achievements

Tokai Spring Industries possesses unique manufacturing technology based on many years of experience of delivering products to customers in the food machinery industry. Our disc springs are used in applications that require repeated durability and long life, as well as in applications that require large loads in a small space.

Problems and challenges

A customer was troubled by the frequent premature breakage of disc springs installed in PET bottle manufacturing machines. The customer wanted to solve the problem as soon as possible, because when the disc spring breaks down, the production line has to be stopped, leading to a drop in productivity.

Solution

In response to the situation where a disc spring that in theory should have lasted 2 million cycles actually broke after about 100,000 cycles, our Technology Group visited the facility and analyzed the factors that caused early breakage. Based on the results of the analysis, we designed a spring that would achieve the requested durability of 2 million cycles in the equipment and environment in which it would be used, and made a new proposal.

Results

We proposed a disc spring that met the customer’s life expectancy requirements, and the customer decided to use it in the actual machine. Since the adoption of our disc springs for the actual machine, no trouble has occurred and the production line continues to operate without any problems.
