Examples of Tokai Spring achievements

Tokai Spring Industries possesses unique manufacturing technology based on many years of experience of delivering products to customers in the mining and heavy machinery industry. Our springs are also used in applications that require large loads, applications working in harsh conditions with impacts, and applications that require reusable springs.

Problems and challenges

We were consulted about the use of a pull spring for a device used in tunnel excavation. Since it was necessary to support a considerable weight, a large pull spring capable of handling large loads was required.

Solution

In order to meet the required load, the diameter of the spring had to be quite large, which made it difficult to cast a normal hook-shaped pull spring. Therefore, we solved the problem of hook casting by designing threaded metal fittings attached to both ends of the spring. We were able to propose a spring that was more durable than the hook-shaped spring and met the required load.

Results

We have received the customer’s approval for the specification of the spring with metal fittings, manufactured the spring and installed it in the machine. Since then, the spring is used according to the required specifications.
