Tokai Spring Industries possesses unique manufacturing technology based on many years of experience of delivering products to customers who manufacture safety valves for power plants. Our springs are particularly useful for safety valves that require high-precision springs.

Problems and challenges

When a load is applied to a coil spring, a twisting force is applied to the spring axis, and a load is also generated in the lateral direction*. Safety valves, especially high pressure valves, require normal operation at the specified pressure, but this lateral motion generated in the spring has a significant impact on the operation of the safety valve, causing problems for customers.
*It is called “lateral load” here.

Solution

Since there have been many requests for countermeasures against the “lateral load” generated in coil springs, we have developed a special testing machine that can measure the “lateral load” exclusively for coil springs used in safety valves. With this testing machine, we are able to quantify and visualize the forces generated in springs, which were previously invisible, and provide springs with minimal “lateral load”.

Results

Our coil springs, which minimize the lateral load in safety valves, are used in our customers’ safety valves, contributing to the accurate opening and closing of valves and to the added value of our customers’ products.
