Tokai Spring Industries possesses unique manufacturing technology based on many years of experience of delivering products to customers in the robotics industry. Our products are used in nursing care robots, support suits, industrial robots and other applications that require compactness, small weight, and high-precision control technology.

Problems and challenges

The customer was planning to use a spring-based mechanism as a prototype for developing a rehabilitation robot. The customer, who was knowledgeable about springs, had already designed a spring in-house, but they wanted a spring that was even lighter and could withstand a larger load.

Solution

Because of the strict specifications required, such as the desired spring characteristics and installation space limitations, we proposed specifications using rarely used high tensile materials.
As a result, we were able to produce a prototype with a design that satisfied the original requirements, and the customer was able to actually use it for tests.

Results

As a result of testing the prototype, we were able to provide a compact, lightweight, and highly durable product that met the original requirements.
It is still working without any issues and we are receiving orders for new springs on a regular basis.
