Meeting strict tolerance requirements

A brake damper, a vibration damping mechanism, requires disc springs that can withstand a large load that has a strict tolerance. Normally, the load characteristics required for general disc springs are only when the springs are compressed. However, in brake dampers, the decompression when the pressure on the springs is released back to their original shape is equally as important. Furthermore, for this application, a large load is required in a small space, so multiple disc springs are stacked in the same direction. This causes friction between the disc springs, which increases the difference between compression and decompression, further increasing the difficulty of controlling the decompression load characteristics.

On top of that, it is necessary to reduce the variation in both compression and decompression characteristics to match the design values. At Tokai Spring, we use the cultivated damping-rate data of disc springs for machining centers’ spindles, the manufacturing technique for huge disc springs for large loads, and the inspection technology and test equipment that can accurately measure this large load.
