Question Yuki 2004/10/19(Tue) 16:07
I am designing a spring using phosphor bronze as the material. I have data on SUS material, but I do not know the maximum (limit) bending stress value of phosphor bronze.

Answer Tokai Spring 2004/10/22(Fri) 11:27
There are several types of phosphor bronze materials for springs and their tensile strengths are different.
Therefore, the maximum bending stress value determined by the standard tensile strength value of the phosphor bronze material used vary too.
However, the allowable bending stress value is about 75% of the tensile strength’s lower limit.
