Question Kai

Could you tell me the relationship between the maximum stress of the spring and the elastic limit? Is it possible to derive the load at the elastic limit from the maximum stress? What are the necessary conditions in that case?

Answer Tokai Spring

The maximum static stress of springs is usually 80% or less of the elastic limit (allowable stress). The load at the elastic limit can be calculated from the wire diameter, center diameter, and material of the spring.
