Question ONE

Nice to meet you, I’m a beginner in design.

I’m thinking of using SUP9 as a material for flat springs. There are several methods for surface treatment, but which method is suitable for SUP9?
Also, is there anything other than the shape that must be taken into consideration when designing flat springs?

Answer Tokai Spring

Regarding the surface treatment of flat springs made of SUP material, shot peening can be performed for thick plates (approximately 4 mm or more), but not for thin plates.

Also, if rust prevention is required, I think that black painting or phosphate coating is common. There are no particular instructions at the time of design other than the material and dimensions.
