Question Binseok Yoon

Is there a Fatigue strength diagram for each material?
I am considering a support spring for a compressor.
I would like to compare the fatigue strength of Piano wire rod and SWOSC-V.

Answer Tokai Spring

Dear Yoon,

Thank you very much for your question!
Please find attached the material from JIS B 2704-1 standard for your reference. There is no diagram for each material but you can use it to estimate the expected lifespan of spring made from materials using the formulas and the diagram.

Our apologies since we do not have the material in English, we translate the necessary part into English in red.

For more information regarding the symbols and formulas for springs, please check out here: https://www.tokaibane.com/en/spring-design/compression-springs-formulas#Section1

We hope this helps.

Best regards,
Tokai Spring’s Support Team
