Question Spring Newbie

Thank you for your continued support.

I am using a compression spring in a resin mold, but there is a crash(?) when opening and closing the mold. The coating on the compression spring peeled off and stayed on the mold surface. Is there any countermeasure for this? Generally, I think it is better to use unpainted products, but since the rust prevention performance is reduced and the service life of the spring is shortened, something is applied over the paint to prevent the paint from peeling off, right? Or is it common to “apply rust preventive spray to unpainted products and use them”? Please let us know if you have any recommended products for this.

Answer Tokai Spring

Spring Newbie, thank you for posting!
As you said, if you are concerned about the peeling of the paint film, I think that an unpainted product is better. At our company, the compression springs for the molds is unpainted and is used with rust preventive oil applied. I think that rusting can be prevented if it is an unpainted product and is always applied to oil, but is it difficult to always apply oil because it is used in a resin molded, right? Depending on the compression load, adopting a stainless steel compression spring may be an effective countermeasure. If you know the current spring shape, we can help you propose a design! !!
